Home Tooth Whitening
The Home whitening Kit involves using a customised mouth guard into which you add a small amount of tooth whitening gel which is then worn overnight. After approximately two weeks your teeth will gradually lighten. Tooth whitening is a very reliable, safe and effective method of brightening your smile. Research shows that home whitening kits result in a better and more stable whitening result that alternative “Laser” or ultraviolet lamp techniques.
Implants
Many patients experience tooth loss – whether it be a single tooth that is lost or multiple teeth. New advances and technical innovations make it possible to replace missing teeth permanently, using a titanium dental implant. The end result is that only you will know that you have ever lost a tooth.
There are many situations where implants can be used to vastly improve the appearance and greatly improve the function. This can vary from replacing a single tooth to stabilising complete dentures to give the patient confidence.
In order to ensure successful treatment, we are proud to use Straumann implants, one of the worlds most reliable and successful implant systems. For more information see www.straumann.co.uk or www.straumann.co.uk/gb-index/patients
Crowns
Crowns are constructed to restore teeth that are heavily filled, discoloured, broken or crowded. Crowning involves removing more of the tooth than for veneers and replacing it with a colour matched porcelain ‘cap' to mimic the natural tooth. Newer all-ceramic crowns, allow light to pass through the crown and tooth so it is reflected naturally and ensures a natural life like appearance. As there is no metal content present, there is no corrosive black line at the margin making it more bio- compatible and aesthetic but still incredibly strong.
Fillings
At Renmore Dental Practice, where possible, we try to place white fillings to achieve a more favourable appearance. In certain clinical circumstances, white fillings are not always the most favourable option. Your dentist will be able to advise you on the most suitable option for your situation.
Extractions
Dr McLoughlin and Dr Dunne are both very experienced in painless tooth removal and priority is given to dental emergencies.
Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics)
When the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) becomes infected through decay or injury, death of the pulp tissue can follow. This can result in pain and swelling and lead to a facial abscess.
Root canal treatment is the process by which the dead pulp is removed and the root is cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. The tooth commonly requires a crown after root canal treatment to reduce the risk of the tooth fracturing.
Periodontal Treatment
Periodontal (gum) disease is a leading cause of tooth loss and is prevalent in up to 90% of the population to a varying degree. Early intervention is essential to prevent irreversible bone loss, bad breath, discoloration and unsightly gum recession. At Renmore Dental Practice, our hygienist is available to help our patients maintain healthy gums and to treat more advanced established gum disease.
Most patients require routine maintenance 6-monthly scale and polish appointments, but more advanced gum disease may require deeper cleaning which is carried out under local anaesthetic (root planning). More advanced gum-treatment is tax-deductable.
Children
Renmore Dental Practice is a family practice and welcomes kids of all ages. Early prevention in a relaxed friendly environment is key to a healthy smile. We believe diet advice, good tooth brushing instruction and fissure sealants from an early age are essential in preventing future dental disease.
Veneers
Veneers are used to permanently lighten and straighten your teeth; they are usually used to treat crooked or slanted teeth, gaps between teeth and stained or worn teeth. Veneers are constructed using ultra-thin translucent porcelain which is shade matched to your natural tooth colour (or lighter) and bonded to the front surface of your tooth
Bridges
Bridges are an alternative to implants and dentures for the replacement of missing teeth. Bridges are not removable and are fixed to teeth adjacent to a space. Different types of bridges are available, and your dentist will be happy to advise you on the most appropriate option for you.
Clear Braces
The Clearstep™ system is a discreet alternative to conventional metal braces in order to align crooked, crowded and rotated teeth. It involves wearing a series of clear positioners to gradually straighten teeth resulting in a beautiful smile. See www.clearstep.co.uk for more details.
